This week on the bookish Internet

  • Usually, the questions in The New York Times’ Book Ends column are so mushy they can’t be considered for regulation softball. But this week, Alice Gregory and Pankaj Mishra are asked a genuinely interesting question: Do moralists make bad novelists?
  • Clive Thompson writes the best essay I’ve ever seen about reading on an ereader (in this case, a phone) for Book Riot.
  • Kristel Autencio has a sweet post about sharing books with her mother, also for Book Riot. This one tugged my heart strings, because my mother and I swap books and talk literature all the time.
  • Ann @ Books on the Table has common sense views about summer reading on her blog.
